A day that will live in infamy

December 7th, 2007 Posted in History, Support the Troops

Not so much is said anymore about Pearl Harbor.  Time passes by and we forget those thing that have happened which changed our world, the people who were there have grown old and many of them are no longer with us to tell us how it was when they were young.

I sailed into Pearl Harbor once on the USS Kittyhawk.  I was proud to man the rails as we went past the memorial to the USS Arizona.  We should never forget the events that happened that day, nor the events that led up to it.  Just like we should never forget 9/11 or what led to that either.

I hope that my children don’t ever have to have their version of Pearl or 9/11, but I am too smart to know that they wont.  We are a free people and there will always be forces out there that want to take that away or make us scared and I hope that we will always have the kind of men and women who when the call is put out will respond and fight.  Not for the love of fighting, but for the love of freedom.

Pearl Harbor memorial is an amazing place. Visited there in Sept 2006. Absolutely moved me to tears.
