They can’t balance the budget, but at least they are eating well

January 15th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Libtards, WTF

Yes, Nancy and crew can’t seem to give us a congressional budget that isn’t as bloated as Ted Kennedy after an evening out with the boys, but she is giving the House a whole new style of cafeteria food.

I guess when she said that change was needed in Congress she was only talking about the food

The processed cheese has been replaced with brie. The Jell-O has made way for raspberry kiwi tarts and mini-lemon blueberry trifles. Meatloaf has moved over for mahi mahi and buns have been shunted aside in favor of baguettes

I’m sure this is more along the lines of the way she is used to eating at home since as we all know the Democrats are the ‘party of the working class’ and all us working class people eat mahi mahi for lunch every day.

They just finished updating the House gym with some help from Gold’s Gym, and it only costs them $20 a month to work out there.  Funny, I don’t ever remember my gym membership only being $20 a month – has it dropped recently and no one told me?

Face it, the Government doesn’t really give a crap about the people.  When they are able to vote themselves pay raises, benefits, and perks which are then paid for by us taxpayers why should they care?  It’s not their money being spent and most of them will go home and no one will know about all the wonderful things they voted for themselves.

So, while most of us struggle to watch what we eat and maybe be able to go work out after all the bills are paid, you can rest easy knowing that your congressman is having mahi mahi for lunch and working out at a gym that costs less than 1/3rd of what you are paying for yours and isn’t as crowded in the afternoon either.

Thanks Nancy, for showing us what true leadership is all about.  They were given the helm because they said the people voted for change, I don’t think any of the people that voted for these fools thought that this was the change they were talking about.

**UPDATE**

My misread on the article about the House of Reps gym.  Apparently the $20 a month is for the Congressional assistants to use their gym – yes, the Congressional Assistants have a seperate gym from the Congressmen and women.  Now isn’t that special?   I bet the Congressmen/women don’t have to pay at all then.

Thanks to MeezerMama for pointing out that I can’t read for dog-poop  :)

There’s food in the fridge…

January 14th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in The wife and I

So I dropped my wife off at the airport on Saturday.  She flew home to visit with her family for a week while I stay here and take care of the cats and do some of my own stuff.

Now, I always do the shopping, this is important to know for what comes next, so I always go to the store with a list that we both make and get all the things on it.  I then put them in the basket, check them all out at the register and drive my plunder home.  So I am well aware of what food we have because I went and got it in the first place.

I was talking with my wife, Intuition, on the phone when she landed in Ohio and it went something like this:

Intuition:  Just wanted to let you know I got here just fine.  The plane landed a few minutes early.

Me:  OK, that’s good.  Have you met up with your folks yet?

Intuition: Not yet, I’m still at the gate.  Have you eaten dinner yet?  There’s some pot roast in the fridge.

Me:  Yea, I know.  Remember, we just made it the other day.

Intuition:  Well, I’m just saying.  There’s also some hot dogs in there too.

Me: Oh, really… wow, did I pick those up at the store too?

Intuition: You are so lucky I can’t reach you right now.

Apparently being male and married means I have no memory anymore  :D

Big Brother is helping you save energy

California want’s to control our thermostats.   The official line is that it would only be used to prevent power outages and that the temperatures would only be adjusted by a few degrees, but still they want overall control.

“You realize there are times – very rarely, once every few years – when you would be subject to a rotating outage and everything would crash including your computer and traffic lights, and you don’t want to do that,” said Arthur Rosenfeld, a member of the energy commission.

Reducing individual customers’ electrical use – if necessary, involuntarily – could avoid that, Rosenfeld said. “If you can control rotating outages by letting everyone in the state share the pain,” he said, “there’s a lot less pain to go around.”

Of course, they are doing it for our own good.  But then again, that is the excuse that is used every time the government wants more control of our lives and our pocketbooks.  It’s always “for the greater good” or, my personal favorite, “It’s for the children”.

Bullshit, it’s for the government and the government nannies that think they know more than everyone else and use that ego and conceit to try and force laws to make everyone do it their way.  Because of these government loonies that are hell bent to save us from ourselves we have such stupid things as the banning of internet gambling by the US, the banning of trans-fats in cooking, and placing cold medicine behind the pharmacy counter.

None of this has anything to do with legitimate government responsibilities, what it has to do with is control.  Control of  people and what they do.  More and more all I seem to hear is that it’s “The governments responsibility to…”.  Since when?  When did the government become responsible for what I eat, or how I spend my money online, or even what tempature I have my house at.

Now there are, I am sure, some who are saying “But, Instinct, if it helps to prevent a blackout how is it bad?” To that I respond that it is wrong because their solution does not address the problem at all.  The problem is that California doesn’t have the electrical power infrastructure to handle all the people that live here but they won’t fix the problem by oh, I don’t know, building more nulcear plants.

Right now California gets only 12% of it’s power from nuclear while Europe and Japan get almost 70% of their power from nuclear.  How is is that we have fallen so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to technology and instead of focusing on how to fix the problem we instead focus on who should be blamed for it.  I guess it’s just easier for the government and the nannies to point fingers than to actually solve anything.

One thing is clear, the more that the nannies and Big Brothers of the world limit our personal choices for ‘our own good’ the less freedom we have.

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned — this is the sum of good government. – Thomas Jefferson

OK, so I’m back now. I took some down time once the semester was over and then in true holiday fashion I got another ear infection but this time in both ears because the first time wasn’t crappy enough by having it in only one.

I haven’t really been following the primaries. I can’t vote in them anyway since I am a registered Independent which just means that everyone wants my vote right now so I won’t be doing any commentary on that.

What I will be commenting on though is what I saw just the other day in the news. We all know that Brittney has lost it. She has pulled a Michael Jackson at warp speed and I expect any day will be buying her very own monkey and calling it Jayden since her own kids are now in their dad’s custody – apparently for good.

Now here is the part that is making me go WTF. Good ol’ Dr. Phil, savior of the daytime TV nutcases, went to see Brittney while she was in the hospital and then talked to the press about it and because of that Brittney’s mom is up in arms and crying loudly about how he “violated their trust”.

This from the woman that as soon as she found out her 16-year old daughter was pregnant went out and sold that story to OK Magazine for One MILLION dollars. So, it’s ok to violate someone’s trust as long as it’s family. No wonder Brittney is so fucked up when all she is to her mom is apparently a paycheck. This is the kind of person that should never have had children because she really doesn’t seem to give a shit about them beyond what they can do for her.

Too bad we can’t have an IQ and common sense test before people are allowed to breed, it would probably end a lot of this crap that goes on with stage mothers, helicopter parents, and all the other horse shit that goes on out there.

My own personal example of this crap of moron parents who really don’t care about their kids happened at a tournament I went to with the student from my school and my Sifu. I was assisting her in getting the kids registered for the forms and weapons competitions when one of the dads came over and loudly demanded that his son be put into sparing.

The kid had only been with us for about six months and hadn’t done any sparing at all. He was also small for his age and very shy. We had to work with him a lot just to get him so that he wasn’t shying away from the other students and was having some fun in class. So my Sifu told his dad the truth.

“He’s not ready for sparring and I’m not going to put him in.”

The jerk seemed to think since he was a guy if he puffed up to the ‘little lady’ and raised his voice that he would get his way.”He’s MY GOD DAMN son and he needs to know how to fight. I’m not having some wimp in my family.”

And that’s when it all became crystal clear. It wasn’t about his son being able to defend himself; he wanted his kid to be just like him – a bully. It was about his ego, his pride and his wants and had nothing to do with his son at all.

Just like Brittney’s mom, this guy was only doing it all for himself and to hell with what was best for the kid.

Sadly, he pulled his son out of our school after that tournament and probably sent him to some other martial arts school that would ‘toughen him up’. Too many assholes in the world.
