And they wonder why we like her

Sarah Palin has driven the left crazy ever since she stepped on the national scene.  They have attacked her, her family, have edited her interviews to distort her answers and then even whined about not having access to her when they were cut off for treating her like crap.  But I think what drives them right off the deep end is that she walks the walk and talks the talk.  What you see really IS what you get with Sarah, no phony ‘down home’ bullshit, pasted on “I’m just folk” style – she really IS all of that.

When federal judges in San Francisco ruled in 2002 that reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools was unconstitutional because it included the phrase “under God,” Sarah Palin was not amused. Palin, who at the time was Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, quickly drafted a terse letter to the editor of a San Francisco newspaper.

“Dear Editor,” Palin wrote in 2002. “San Francisco judges forbidding our Pledge of Allegiance? They will take the phrase ‘under God’ away from me when my cold, dead lips can no longer utter those words,” Palin wrote.

“God Bless America,” she concluded.

One of my co-workers last night (who is a HUGE Obama fan) was griping about how the right keeps calling him an elitist. “What’s wrong with being an elitist?  I WANT the elite of my country leading us, not some backwater hillbilly.”

I explained to her that there is a gigantic difference between being one of the elite and an elitist.  The elite are the best of the best, they are the ones who have proven their character and their quality through actions, they live what they preach and lead through example, they are people of the highest class and character.  Elitists are none of these things.

Elitist instead of living the talk, will instead say “do as I say, not as I do”.  They will tell us to conserve energy while wasting energy themselves.  They will preach about the evil of guns and then go and obtain a concealed carry permit.  This is elitism, these people are not the best of the best, far from it in fact they are the worst of the worst.  Liars and snobs who think that ‘We the people”are too stupid to govern ourselves and lead our own lives without them taking care of us and who think that we do not see that they try to set up two sets of rules; one for us and one for them.

To the elitist, the nanny state is a perfect affair for them.  They can live their lives however they like because they will be the nannies watching over us and making sure we follow their rules, go to bed on time and brush our teeth like good little boys and girls while they eat caviar and sip champagne into the night.  They want us to look to them to take care of us and give us what we need to make it through the world.

What they do not want is a national reminder that we don’t need the government to give us things and that we are strong enough, smart enough, and talented enough to get by without the safety of a national health care system, nationalized retirement or any other government ‘benefits’ that we will be heavily taxed for and receive very little in return.  I dare anyone to name one government program that has delivered more than expected for less cost than a similar program run by a private corporation.

Gov. Palin scares them I think because she is what she is.  She got where she is by being who she is and not selling out – and that is the problem for the left, they don’t see a price tag on her.  They are so use to everything, and everyone, being up for sale that they have no idea on how to deal with the new maverick on the block, which is one of the many reasons we like Sarah.  She’s reminded a lot of people what America really is.

God bless America indeed
