Veteran’s Day

November 11th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in History

I served during the Gulf War, my father served in Korea, My grandfather and grand-uncles served in WWII.  All my great uncles paid the ultimate price to protect the country that they loved.  One day my children, my nephew or niece may serve.  I hope there is never a need for them to fight, but I hope they have the courage to do so when required.

A wish for God’s protection to our soldiers on the field and peace to those that have served and come home.

Read about one of the bravest of us all, Colonel John Ripley.  If you don’t know who he is, now is a good time to learn

Have I got a Proposition for you

November 11th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in California, WTF

As everyone in the world probably is aware, Proposition 8 passed here in California.  For those who have been living under a rock or were so infatuated with Obama that you were blinded by all other activities in the world, Proposition 8 is an amendment to the California Constitution that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Well, since it passed the fecal matter has been striking the air flow enhancing oscillation device.  Protests, lawsuits, statements about how churches should be burned down… you know, the normal stuff that happens when liberals lose, they throw a major league temper tantrum. Hell, we even have state lawmakers filing a suit saying that Proposition 8 should be overturned because “voters did not have the authority to make such a dramatic change in state law”.   EXCUSE ME???  Where the hell does it say in the California Constitution that the people can’t vote on amendments to it?  It’s been done before.

Gay rights activists are trying to portray this as civil rights case, which it isn’t.  They are claiming that they are discriminated against because straight people can get married and they can’t.  But here’s the problem, in California they can have civil unions which confer the SAME RIGHTS as marriage.

As Bob Parks puts it, this isn’t a civil rights issue by any stretch of the imagination:

Gays routinely equate their modern-day inconveniences with “civil rights” which is code for the black Civil Rights Movement. Roseanne, unlike gays, blacks couldn’t avoid discrimination by staying in the closet. Blacks couldn’t shed the color of their skin.

Oh, but it’s not marriage you say?  Course it’s not.  Marriage is something that is performed by a church and a priest.  It is a RELIGIOUS ceremony, not a legally binding contract under the states view.  You can have a priest stand up, do his thing, and if you don’t have that marriage license, which is a legal contract issued by the state and is – in all ways – a civil union, it’s just pretty words in the states eyes.

When my wife and I got married the pastor gave us a nice little marriage certificate suitable for framing that says the date we were married, the pastor signed it and it has a nice, official looking seal on it.   But as far as being legal – it’s about as legal as Monopoly money. The real legal document is the one issued by the state.

So, what is the difference between a civil union and marriage?  One is performed by the state (civil unions), and the other is acknowledged by the state (marriage).  Otherwise, the rights granted are the same.  But the gays aren’t happy with a civil union, they seem to want to force the religious institutions to bend to their will and marry them by threat of law. I always thought there was ‘separation between church and state’?  Isn’t that what liberals like to carry on about??  So, if there is to be a separation, how can they back a law that would essentially stick it’s nose into the church’s business?

Do I have a problem with gays wanting to get married?  Nope, not at all.  What I have a problem with is that when the votes are cast and everything is over with, if the liberals win they go on about how ‘the system worked’ and if they lose then it’s all about ‘Those evil bastards must have cheated.”  I have a problem with a minority group DEMANDING not that we tolerate them, but that we accept them.  Acceptance is different than tolerance.  Tolerance means that I may not agree with you but I TOLERATE it because it’s the civilized thing to do, acceptance means that I am just happy as a warm turd that you are doing what your doing.

I have a few friends who are gay.  If some priest wants to give them a ceremony to go with a civil union, there is no law stopping them, they still have all the benefits of marriage and the ceremony, it’s just legally called a civil union. I will just never agree with a law that intrudes on areas that are part of the churches prerogative.

Here’s a wonderful quote from a poster on the San Francisco Chronicles site

Marriage licenses are issued by governments, not religious institutions. Religious institutions can opt to perform or not perform marriage ceremonies. The only solution to this issue is to abolish marriage as we now understand it and to consider it just another contract between 2 individuals 18 years and older. There is nothing sacred about marriage – heterosexuals have been trashing the institution via divorce, bigamy, affairs, murdering spouses and children and abortion since its inception. Grow up YES ON 8 folks – your marriages are nothing more than an unholy union of one prostitute and one pimp.

Ah yes, the enlightened left “abolish marriage as we know it”.  Um, if it is such a horrible institution then why do you want to be a part of it?

Happy Birthday Marines!

Semper Fi!

It was my privileged an honor to serve along the Marines when I was in the Navy.  I have never seen a more dedicated, hard charging group of individuals in my whole life.  This includes some drunken shore leaves, bar fights and even some military actions.

Happy Birthday, Marines!

No School Slavery After All

November 8th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Libtards, People are Stupid

Well, it seems that Barry has quietly killed his plan to force all us college students who are paying our own way through to also have to give him some of our time as well.  That’s a good thing because I’m already getting enough socialist bullshit from some of my professors as it is, so I don’t need another indoctrination course to go along with what I have already got.

here is what his original idea was

Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.

Yes, even if you retire you must still serve the state.  From each according to his abilities – without pay. Most places that is called ‘indentured servitude’ at best and ‘slavery’ at worst.  But he’s changed it so now it reads this way:

setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.

Course, I love all the Corps he wants to come up with:

President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps.

I’ve got an Idea for Barry on education – it’s a crazy one, but hear me out.

First, kill the Department of Education since they have done nothing to help education since their inception. Since the Department of Educations creation our schools have been slowly sliding downhill.  I work with ADULTS  -people in their 20s – who do not know what the three branches of government are.  Their answer?  “Isn’t it Republican, Democrat and Liberal??”

Second, kill the “No child” act since all it has done is encourage teaching to a test and lenient grading so that schools won’t lose funding. If the school has a high percentage of students who are failing they lose money – wow, what an incentive to fail a student who isn’t doing well in his classes.

Third, quit raising federal taxes for education and let the local cities, towns, counties and states handle their own education.  If everyone is so worried about one state having less funds per student than another then do the tax and give it to the state with no strings attached except for that it must be used for education.

Oh, wait, all those ideas would take education out of the federal hands (where it doesn’t belong) and give it back to the states (where it does)

As for his other ‘corps’ that he wants, it’s just a craptastic idea for the Health Corps  – the beginnings of socializing health-care while not really addressing the problem.  Clean Energy Corps – We can put them all on hamster wheels to generate electricity for their local schools.  Veterans Corps – I thought we already had something like that called the National Guard, or does Barry want his own military that is outside of state and Congressional control?

Yea, Barry, it’s going to be a long four years and when it is over I hope you haven’t screwed things up too much.

Oh, and who wants to bet we have some big terrorist attacks six months after he takes office?

We can however expect to have a nice police state where any dissenting opinion will be silenced
