I have no argument that there is climate change. The climate will change because it has changed in the past. Blaming human activity for it all is ridiculous. Of course we contribute so do flea farts. And Fleas out number people. Why is no one researching flea farts and how to reduce/eliminate them? (FYI the last question IS rhetorical but I am certain your response would be cogent and contributory.)
I believe that we should research and develop renewable resources if only to tell the Sand Rats to drink it.
Cap and Trade is a crap shoot with the dice shaved and the politicos et.al. pushing it should get the mob treatment reserved for cheaters in old time Vegas.
My view of renewable energy is the same as my view of every other product. It should be developed without government encouragement. The car was successful not because the government stepped in and helped it out, it was successful because it was a good idea.
Now, if renewable energy comes up with good ideas that people want then great. But we shouldn’t throw money at stuff because it sounds good. And we should drill the lands that we have where we know there are billions of barrels of oil.
Cap and trade is just another way for politicians to take control of our economy.
As Ron White said about cow farts and the environment: “I’m eating the cow! But I’m only ONE MAN!!”
Unfortunately, the current structure makes it almost impossible for major developments to come out of a basement lab. The poor innovator is taxed to the point he can’t afford his “hobby”.
Until we can beat them back to reason, I’d rather the public trough go to funding the pursuit of serendipity rather than the building of bridges to nowhere.
Back when oil was cheap and the Middle Eastern wells (and other countries like Venezuela) were owned by Gulf and Shell…., my dad always supported suck them dry before tapping our keg. Sooner or later production dries up. When they started Nationalizing the wells, we missed the beat to make them reimburse the costs of development. After all the private money was repaid in the profits. But they would still owe us barrels of oil to pay back the “loans with interest”.
And don’t get me started on MPG…Dad worked with R.K.Owen during WWII. We should be getting 100+ for real with currently available tech. Instead we are eking 30 on false promises and whining from the auto industry.
