It’s over for now

November 7th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in History

Well, B Hussen Obama was elect president and there weren’t any riots in the streets or people being viciously beaten by roving gangs of conservatives. How much you want to bet it would have been a different story if he had lost?

That is the real difference between conservatives and the new liberals. When we lose we accept it, move on, and plan for the next fight. Lefty Liberals don’t; instead they scream, cry, hold protests and demand the courts to step in. A perfect example is Proposition 8, it passed here in California and what has been happening since then? Protests and demands that the court overturn it.

So for the next four years we will have a president that I have heard many liberals compare to Jimmy Carter, this doesn’t fill me with a warm fuzzy feeling. The best one was “He’s a great thinker, just like Carter. He can take all this information in and assimilate it and then he come out with these brilliant ideas.”  Yes, we’ve seen the brilliant ideas Carter came up with, which is why he is the worst president ever.

In the end the United States will survive this, but it shows what happens when an education system fails to teach our youth to think critically about issues; what happens when we have a society that starts to think that they shouldn’t have to work for what they want and instead the government should take care of them, and what happens when the press become more about propaganda than actual information.

In four years I’ll pull the lever again and it will be for Palin, if she decides to run.  I just hope in four years that the Republican party can remember what being conservative is all about.  If they can’t, the I guess I will join Bill Whittle’s Piranha Party.

But here are the real questions I have:

1- Drawings of Bush showing him as a chip were fine, can we do the same with Obama or is that Racist?

2 – Comparing Bush to Hitler was fine, so can we now point to Obama’s policies and call him a socialist or is that Racist?

3 – Making fun of how Bush talks was fine, so can we now make fun of how Obama stammers around when he is off the teleprompter or is that Racist?

4 – Calling Bush ‘Dubya’ seemed to be OK for the left, so can we refer to Obama as Hussein or is that Racist too??

That’s the problem with having a new president, you have to find out what is fine and what isn’t.  All such a bother, really.

The Fourth of November

Today is the day. Election Day, a time when all citizens have the right and obligation to go and vote for the direction that we want this country to go, and who we want to lead.

My wife and I have done our ballots and cast our lots. I won’t be home tonight to see the results, nor will I be at McCain headquarters here. Nope, I’ll be at work which kind of sucks but since I have to pay my taxes to support the 40% in this country that don’t pay any, it what has to be done. Besides, according to Joe “I’m not a plumber” Biden it’s patriotic to pay more in taxes, so if Obama wins you can bet we will all be very patriotic, indeed.

The saddest part about today is how many people I know at work who are voting and when I ask them what their reasons are for picking Obama the response is almost always “Well, he sounds really good.” Or “McCain is old and Obama is hip.” Then, when I start asking them probing questions about things like Obama’s fund raising, or his connection to socialist causes the response is the same as well “Gee, I never heard about that, are you sure it’s true?”

But my favorite reason that people give me for voting for Obama is “Well, he’s going to take all that money away from the rich.”

When I ask why they are so jealous and envious that someone has more money than they do it’s always the same “Well, it’s not FAIR.”

“Well, how bout you work hard and get a good job and you can become rich too. Just save your money up and invest it wisely.”

That always gets a look like I grew a third eye. “That would take YEARS!!!”

So, it comes down to this, those of us that think that hard work should pay off in the end and not be punished for it versus those who think that they shouldn’t have to work for that 55” plasma TV that they want so they can watch American Idol in style.

I’ve chosen my side, and win or lose we’ll go at it again in another four years.

MLK Jr Was a Republican

September 14th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in History, Loving the GOP

Read this over at Wolf Howling.  Among the other interesting facts posted:

The Republican Party – the party of Abraham Lincoln – was borne in 1854 out of opposition to slavery.

- The party of Jim Crow and the Ku Klux Klan was, as Jeffrey Lord points out in an article at the WSJ, the Democratic Party. And Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) is the only living member of the Senate who was once a member of the KKK.

- The 13th (abolishing slavery), 14th (due process for all citizens) and 15th (voting rights cannot be restriced on the basis of race) Amendments to the Constitution were enacted by Republicans over Democratic opposition.

So, as always, all I can say is go, read, enjoy

Never EVER forget!

I remember where I was right down to what I was wearing that day, I was wearing my Gumdo shirt that day mainly because it was black and looked cool with my jeans and Doc Martin boots. I had figure drawing class and was sitting near one of the doors to the classroom across from the radio, mainly because I really didn’t want to listen to NPR but that was all that our drawing instructor would have on. I personally would have preferred something a little less sleep inducing, but his attitude was that the slow classical they played would help us focus. Well, all it really helped me focus on was trying not to fall asleep.

I was working on blocking in a cast shadow when the back of my brain heard the change on the radio. I know I really didn’t consciously hear it, but I’m so used to half listening to things that my brain caught it and played it back in my head for me, “We have just received reports that a plane has struck one of the World Trade Center towers…”

“Turn that up!” I called across the room to someone, I don’t remember who it was, and that got everyone listening.

Some, in fact most, thought it had to have been an accident but I knew, I honestly KNEW that it was intentional. Maybe it’s because of being in the military, maybe it was because of my family’s police background, or maybe I am just paranoid.

When the second plane was announced everybody knew it too, most of them didn’t know what happened, but they knew it wasn’t an accident. I thought about telling them what I knew it was, but instead I just packed up my stuff and headed home.

As we walked out of the class one of my classmates asked me “What do you think happened?”

“Terrorists.”

“No. Seriously? But, that kind of stuff doesn’t happen here.”

I just looked at him. “It does now. Might as well get ready for a fight because we aren’t going to take this laying down.”

I headed home and called my parents, they had heard about it too. We talked about how it had been out there ignored for a long time, how our government had ignored the problem and it had finally come to a point that we couldn’t ignore it anymore. We talked about what the government would probably do, and we talked about me dropping out of school and re-enlisting.

“Son,” My dad said in no uncertain terms, “you’ve already fought your war. Let the young guys handle this one. You gave them seven years and now you have other things that you need to do.”

I stayed in school, and now I’m in grad school, but I will never forget that day as long as I live, and I will never surrender.

To those who say that this war is illegal, unjust and being fought just for oil. I would like to ask them how many terrorist attacks have happened on US soil since we decided it was time to fight back?

Never Forget. Never Forgive. Never Surrender

**UPDATE**

Let us also not forget those ‘real patriots’ at the NYTimes that show it by selling out their own country in an attempt to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory

And for anyone who needs to be reminded of what Obama thought about this tragic day
