For those of you that have Androids and are at the beginning of your service contract… you’re screwed

The Web giant announced Tuesday that it plans to follow the activities of users across nearly all of its ubiquitous sites, including YouTube, Gmail and its leading search engine.

Google has already been collecting some of this information. But for the first time, it is combining data across its Web sites to stitch together a fuller portrait of users.

Consumers won’t be able to opt out of the changes, which take effect March 1. And experts say the policy shift will invite greater scrutiny from federal regulators of the company’s privacy and competitive practices.

So, if you don’t want Google knowing everything that you do, change your search engine and change your phone.

A user signing up for Gmail, for instance, might never have imagined that the content of his or her messages could affect the experience on seemingly unrelated Web sites such as YouTube.

“Google’s new privacy announcement is frustrating and a little frightening,” said Common Sense Media chief executive James Steyer. “Even if the company believes that tracking users across all platforms improves their services, consumers should still have the option to opt out — especially the kids and teens who are avid users of YouTube, Gmail and Google Search.”

Might I recommend an iPhone.

I guess their economy must be fixed <del></del> because apparently one of our California state Senators has time for this kind of bullshit.

Lowe’s Home Improvement has found itself facing a backlash after the retail giant pulled ads from a reality show about American Muslims.

The retail giant stopped advertising on TLC’s “All-American Muslim” after a conservative group known as the Florida Family Association complained, saying the program was “propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda’s clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values.”

And what is said Democrat from California doing in response to Lowe’s pulling the ads? Why, he wants a boycott and ‘Legislative action’ which to my mind means that Congress will pull out some trumped up BS so they can grandstand

Calling the Lowe’s decision “un-American” and “naked religious bigotry,” Sen. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, told The Associated Press he would also consider legislative action if Lowe’s doesn’t apologize to Muslims and reinstate its ads. The senator sent a letter outlining his complaints to Lowe’s Chief Executive Officer Robert A. Niblock.

“The show is about what it’s like to be a Muslim in America, and it touches on the discrimination they sometimes face. And that kind of discrimination is exactly what’s happening here with Lowe’s,” Lieu said.

Honestly, I find the entire idea of anti-discrimination laws to be absurd. How many people have not gotten a job and were told “We found someone more qualified” when what they really meant was “Your too old/ blonde/ tall/ short/ whatever…” The idea of law as behavior modification, to me, goes against the entire idea of freedom.

If someone wants to be a bigot, let them. I hope they post a big freaking sign outside of their business saying “No _______ allowed!” because then I would know NOT to spend my money there. Now, those same bigots have just taken it underground.

As far as Lowe’s goes, I can understand them not wanting to advertise on a show that might be a controversial subject, and that is their RIGHT to pick where they want their ad money to go. For Lieu to say that he will try some sort of legislative action for Lowe’s spending their money how they see fit is not only reprehensible but shows exactly how the leftist mindset goes – You have no rights except what they want you to have.

I have a few more tools to buy for the shop so I think I’ll head over to Lowe’s today even though they are farther away than Home Depot.

**Update**

Tam pointed out correctly that he is a California state Senator, not a US one. Corrections applied. I will punish myself by going to the range later.

A brief quote, but you really should RTWT

I have never had to deal with bolt action sniper rifles, these punk’s tastes run to Ack-Ack guns, and I have taken away 4 stens that they probably stole from Grandaddy’s closet, a Thompson hacked short on both ends,a and more pistol-gripped AK clones than i care to count. These kids want blood, and since they will have to go through me to shed any in my mall, I am constantly doging near misses and ricochets, I have taken to doubling up on my regular regimen on Body armor, as you probaly knwo.

Yeah, there’s a lot more where that came from.

Thankfully, my coffee is still brewing so I didn’t end up spewing it all over the keyboard.

It’s seems this week is going to keep revolving around art stuff that pisses me off. This time, it’s Obambi campaign and it’s attempt to get artists to work for free.

President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign is asking artists to design promotional posters that convey a message: “support American jobs.” The brutal irony for artists, however, is that they will receive no payment for their work.

The campaign, which has $61 million on hand, will reward only the three artists whose work is selected for use. The compensation? A copy of their artwork, signed by the president.

Oh, goody-fucking-gumdrops!!! He’ll sign the fucking thing and THAT is what he considers payment??? Yeah, that and $3.50 will get me a cup of shitty coffee and a doughnut.

“To add insult to injury,” the guild’s letter said, “the contest rules state that all artists who submit work to the contest grant the Obama For America campaign an unrestricted unpaid irrevocable license to use ALL of the submissions, not just the winning entry.” Each contestant can enter five designs.

Furthermore, the guild pointed out that “there’s no promise to even give the artist credit when her/his work is used.”

Isn’t that just so special. You can lose the contest and they will STILL be able to use your work, only this time no signed copy for you! LOSER!!!

It’s a damn shame that so many in the art community supported this piece of shit when he ran for office. I remember fellow students parroting of the BS lines of his campaign and how he was going to “Heal the world” unlike that eeeeeevil Bushilter!! Well guys, here’s your payback, now the SCFOAMF doesn’t even want to pay you for your work From each according to his ability and all that.

But wait! There’s MORE!!

“It gets worse,” the letter continued. “Entering the contest means that you agree to the contest rules, and indemnifying the committee is part of the rules, so you agree to defend the campaign committee and yourself against an infringement claim at your expense.”

That’s right kids! You agree to pay to defend his campaign and foot the bill for them! Isn’t that nice of him? Makes you feel like a valuable member of the Obama Team, doesn’t it???

As I have said many times before, we artists are PROFESSIONALS! We work very hard on our skills and for anyone – and especially this fucking hack of a human being – to think that we should just bend over and take it up the backside is horse shit!

I can’t count the number of times someone has said to me “Gee, can you do a drawing of…” and we aren’t talking about a quick sketch or something, I mean a full range drawing on good Bristol board that would take anywhere from 10-15 hours work and then would expect that I should just do it because they asked. And this isn’t family members or close friends either, they know better, I’m talking the girl that sits two cubes away from me at work that I never speak to but she decided that a drawing of their ugly kid would be the perfect Christmas present for Dad.

This though is ten times worse. I can (for the most part) forgive ignorant people, but this is a very carefully constructed setup that if you step into it for any reason, gives away your work with no guarantee of any recognition at all while the campaign stands to make quite a bit of money off it.

You get screwed without the benefit of a reach around and Obambi and his crew get the spoils. Yeah, spreading the wealth around is good for everyone, right? Right?

Best part:

Tim Dickinson of Rolling Stone wroteWednesday that “the folks at [the] Obama campaign have taken a page from the Arianna Huffington book of economic exploitation.” Dickinson suggested that the campaign consider an additional slogan: “Fuck You. Pay Me.”

No shit.

The Feds have no comment about how a couple of convicted felons were able to purchase over 300 firearms WHILE THEY WATCHED ON CLOSED CIRCUIT TV!

In the latest chapter of the gunrunning scandal known as Operation Fast and Furious, federal officials won’t say how two suspects obtained more than 360 weapons despite criminal records that should have prevented them from buying even one gun.

Under current federal law, people with felony convictions are not permitted to buy weapons, and those with felony arrests are typically flagged while the FBI conducts a thorough background check.

However, according to court records reviewed by Fox News, two of the 20 defendants indicted in the Fast and Furious investigation have felony convictions and criminal backgrounds that experts say, at the very least, should have delayed them buying a single firearm. Instead, the duo bought dozens of guns on multiple occasions while federal officials watched on closed-circuit cameras.

So, while we hear more and more from the anti’s about how we need stronger gun control and we need to ‘close loopholes’ so that the bad guys can’t buy guns (even though most bad guys just steal them), here we have the federal agencies that are responsible for making sure that the people buying guns aren’t criminals turning a blind eye to the whole situation while they catch it on tape.

It seems more and more obvious to me that this is a situation of the government causing a major problem in order to then be able to come in and “fix it” through more totalitarian controls.

Syndrome would be proud.

When asked about the breakdown, Stephen Fischer, a spokesman for the NICS System, said the FBI had no comment. However, ATF Special Agent John Dodson, who worked the Fast and Furious investigation, said NICS officials called the ATF in Phoenix whenever their suspects tried to buy a gun. That conversation typically led to a green light for the buyers, when it should have stopped them.

Of course they have no comment. Any lie they tell would be found out and they sure as hell don’t want us to know the truth. Everyone that was involved in this should be fire or in jail, and the agency shut down.
