Hit the zoo yesterday with the wife and the offspring. The boy is growing in leaps and bounds and becoming quite determined when he sets his mind to something.

Yesterday morning we had him in his walker and he was trying to go through the doorway and get out of the bedroom where we were keeping him contained. To keep him in the room we had placed a floor fan in the doorway and had it on for circulation. Matthew came up to the fan, saw he couldn’t get around it and decided to ram it – and managed to move it about an inch.

He still wasn’t able to get out, so he backed up a bit and hit it again, which moved it a little further but still not enough that he could leave. So, he backed up about two feet, which made me think he was going to go some other direction. He wasn’t. He then moved as fast as he could and rammed the fan at full speed! At that point I decided to step in and pull him out of his walker before he got a really good run at it and broke the dang thing.

Stubborn kid.

Anyway, we hit the zoo and went to the aquarium where this time Matthew stayed awake for the sharks. As you can see, he thought they were pretty cool

We also hit the jellyfish again. Quite a difference from the last time.

I got sidetracked over to Joan Peterson’s blog because of Weerd’s recent post and while I was there asking “Baldr Odinson” if he was going to come back under his real name and like his own comment I noticed Joan’s rules for publishing comments.

1. Comments asking for clarification will usually be published if they are about something I omitted or was unclear about.

2. Keep comments on topic and polite.

3. Comments on this blog will not be published if they are rude, offensive in any way, sexist, racist, sexually explicit, misogynistic, using of aggressive, vulgar or threatening language, harassment or generally distasteful.

4. Personal attacks will not be published.

5. Comments attacking organizations with which I am affiliated, other commenters or bloggers or groups of people will not be published or tolerated.

6. Comments that are misleading or not factual may be published but only to correct the facts.

7. Comments intended to harass or ask leading and repeated questions to get a reaction but not to further the discussion will not be published.

8. Opinions are not facts. When I write about facts, I use links to sources to back them up. When I express my opinion, that is what it is. Readers may not agree with my opinions but comments challenging my opinion are not constructive and don’t lead to furthering the discussion. We will not always agree here.

I love number 8. She says that you may not agree with her and if you challenge her she won’t publish it.

Also, if she thinks it’s offensive, it won’t be published. If she thinks it is attacking her group (such as challenging her facts) it won’t be published.

Joan, I have a suggestion for you. You can shorten the whole list down to one rule and it would be this:

1. Don’t confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up.

Oh, and I’m sure my comment won’t be published either.

Well, I’m a practical kind of guy so I won’t be putting a GAU-8 on the list, but here is what I would get

As Linoge over at Walls of the City (which should have been on my blog roll a long time ago) noted, I am now venturing into making custom grips. I actually got going in this direction because my wife has tiny hands and she was not happy with the grips on her revolver. Me, being the kind of guy I am, looked at it and decided that it was silly that I should buy some grips that would still be too large when I can just make them myself. So, here we are.

I am currently assembling the last of the equipment I need which will eat up about $800 (wonder if there are any venture capitalists out there wanting to throw me money….)

Anyway, once all that is taken care of and I have a proper workstation and tools I will begin production on some 1911, Hi-Power, Beretta and even a Ruger SP101 set of grips. These are what I am starting with because they are the pistols I have available. I will probably be able to get hold of a Model 60 and do some S&W grips too,

If anyone has a special request for a set, feel free to let me know, I am always open to expanding my range of skills and I will back my work with a 100% money back guarantee. I plan to be up and running by March and as things get closer I’ll let you know about the website, product designs and what I have available in inventory for immediate sale (I’m positive that this will include some full and compact 1911 grips as well as some Brownings).

For those of you that have Androids and are at the beginning of your service contract… you’re screwed

The Web giant announced Tuesday that it plans to follow the activities of users across nearly all of its ubiquitous sites, including YouTube, Gmail and its leading search engine.

Google has already been collecting some of this information. But for the first time, it is combining data across its Web sites to stitch together a fuller portrait of users.

Consumers won’t be able to opt out of the changes, which take effect March 1. And experts say the policy shift will invite greater scrutiny from federal regulators of the company’s privacy and competitive practices.

So, if you don’t want Google knowing everything that you do, change your search engine and change your phone.

A user signing up for Gmail, for instance, might never have imagined that the content of his or her messages could affect the experience on seemingly unrelated Web sites such as YouTube.

“Google’s new privacy announcement is frustrating and a little frightening,” said Common Sense Media chief executive James Steyer. “Even if the company believes that tracking users across all platforms improves their services, consumers should still have the option to opt out — especially the kids and teens who are avid users of YouTube, Gmail and Google Search.”

Might I recommend an iPhone.

GunsAmerica Epic Fail… Again

Yet one more reason I won’t buy a damn thing from GunsAmerica. First they say that gun bloggers aren’t “real” journalists and that they had to deal with “nobodies who can install wordpress and have nobody reading anything they write” at the SHOT show, and now they are talking about “Man guns”

And one of him hanging out with Quigley at the window. They like to sit there and watch the leaves get blown around. Quigley really enjoys Matthew and will give him baths sometimes. He also doesn’t mind that sometimes Matthew will grab his ears or flop on top of him.

He’s a good cat.
